 Spice Blends for Proteins  

Ingredients 

1. Taco Seasoning (Makes about 1/4 cup):  

- 2 tbsp chili powder  

- 1 tbsp ground cumin  

- 1 tbsp smoked paprika  

- 1 tsp garlic powder  

- 1 tsp onion powder  

- 1 tsp dried oregano  

- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)  

- 1/2 tsp salt  

- 1/4 tsp black pepper  


2. Curry Spice Blend (Makes about 1/4 cup):  

- 1 tbsp ground turmeric  

- 1 tbsp ground cumin  

- 1 tbsp ground coriander  

- 1 tsp ground ginger  

- 1 tsp ground cinnamon  

- 1 tsp ground cardamom  

- 1/2 tsp ground cloves  

- 1/2 tsp black pepper  

- 1/2 tsp salt  


3. Za’atar Spice Blend (Makes about 1/4 cup):  

- 2 tbsp dried thyme  

- 1 tbsp sesame seeds  

- 1 tbsp sumac  

- 1 tsp dried oregano  

- 1/2 tsp salt  


Instructions 

1. Mix the Spices:  

   - For each blend, combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.  


2. Store:  

   - Transfer the spice blends to airtight containers or jars. Label and store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.  


3. Use:  

   - Taco Seasoning: Use 1-2 tbsp per pound of protein (chicken, beef, tofu, etc.).  

   - Curry Spice Blend: Use 1-2 tbsp per dish, adjusting to taste.  

   - Za’atar Spice Blend: Sprinkle on roasted veggies, grilled meats, or hummus.
